Only Pretend ~ Nora Flite

If you hated your life, wanted to prove to the world that you could change, how would you do it?

I had a plan.
I also had no family, no friends,
and definitely no jerk of an ex-boyfriend
who thought I was boring.

I was tired of being me. In Vegas, I could be anything.

And then I saw him.
His hungry smile wanted a taste of the new me. Only a boring person would have said no.

It was reckless to follow a stranger to his bed.
Dangerous to take the drink he handed me. I thought the worst regret I'd have would be a hangover, a walk of shame through the hotel.

Except I didn't wake up in the hotel.
Or in Vegas.

I doubt my face will end up in the news.
“Woman missing,” the headline would say.
“A stupid person who thought she could be someone else.”

Sometimes, nothing short of a
really, REALLY dark read will do!

This one gave me chills.
It's dark, sad and at points tragic.

It's a battle of wills toward a great HEA.
And I really enjoyed it.
It plays out like a movie and could easily be into one.

I'd have loved more of Leonide's POV
but then I am a sucker for an really hard anti-hero!

Thanks so much Nora for offering me the ARC.
When you said 'beyond steamy' in the blurb, you weren't joking!

ARC REVIEW: Overwhelmed by You ~ Nashoda Rose

4.5 Stars

First off, I really loved the look of this book.
The scripted chapter headers and the butterflies throughout...
and what a great cover!

I'm a big fan of this series.
The characters have depth, the story has meaning
and the author has written it all beautifully.

Brilliant first chapter!
We get straight into it from Ream's point of view and
that totally sets the tone for the rest of the book.

Kat was undoubtedly the perfect woman for Ream,
she grew on me throughout and saved Ream in the end.
But for me, this story was all Ream.
A broken man struggling
 to overcome his younger years.
LOVED HIM!

His character was compelling.
I could have read a bit more of 'that' side of the story!
 ~ no spoilers! ~

The way Nashoda wrote the horror of his life
without actually writing much detail was...

I love dark erotica.
But there was a definite line drawn
in the writing of this book for the darker parts
which should mean that even those that
don't normally go there will almost definitely
be alright reading this series.

Shattered By You should be amazing!
Crisis' story will be epic. I'm in!

Thank you so much for sharing the arc
with Sizzling Pages via Netgalley.

ARC REVIEW: Reciprocity by K.I. Lynn

I've sat on finishing this review for a few days because
I can see that most of the ARC reviewers are giving it 5 stars -
almost every bone in me wants to as well, just because!!! But I can't.

There shouldn't 't be a single doubt that I'm a HUGE fan of Nathan Thorne

cock heartbeat

huhum...and his dirty mouth!!

Lila and how she overcame her issues AND of K.I. Lynn herself.
I've loved this series hard up till now.

Hell! Breach was my Book of the Year last year!!

I have an in-scripted/signed copy that I'll cherish forever.
rdj let me love you

But for me, this just wasn't a 5 star finish.
(Oh God! I feel like I broke the honeybear loyalty code even writing that!)
sorry

I'm going to find it hard to put into words why,
because I'm more of a gif reviewer.
But it didn't work for me as I (too desperately?) hoped it would.
Had I built it up too much in my mind? I don't know.

Not enough of the story gripped me
and unlike Breach (where I could hardly breathe I was so in awe)
this time I felt that the personal moments
became a bit, dare I say... samey.

The ending felt abrupt too.

I'll agree with another reviewer that in some ways this felt like a long epilogue in itself.

It didn't really excite me and at times it was a little slow.

sorrysorry

I've got to be true to myself - It was a 4 star read for me, which isn't bad!!!
BUT, I doubt I'll sleep tonight for writing it!

Thank you very much to K.I. Lynn for the arc.
God, I hope that you never actually read this review!

ARC REVIEW: Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel ~ Nina G. Jones

As a predominantly dark erotica reader,
I found this soft, romantic read most enjoyable.

It's nicely written from Sadie's POV and has diary style moments in her thoughts being splashed here and there.
This sometimes happy, sometimes heartbreakingly
sad read scores a solid 4 stars from me.

Close to the end I cried to the point of blubbering!
I sat there thinking how the hell can a story do that! Honestly, that scene (not gonna spoil it - you'll know when you get there!) had to have come from a real life experience - it was beautifully written and very close to a conversation that I once had. Trust me, it was heartfelt and genuine.
I felt it and the book were all the better for it being there.

Overall Sadie and Heath were great characters -
he was a good guy! A scoundrel, but not an asshole!
She chose right in the end.

I'd definitely read Nina again and thank her for the opportunity to read Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel.
