Desperate Man {Vol 1: The Fantasy} by Ella Frank & Brooke Blaine

Fantasies - we all have them.
For some it’s their dream job; others want the wedding,
the 2.5 kids, the white picket fence.
My fantasies are a bit more...depraved.
Dark and sinful, they have destroyed relationships and my livelihood, yet I still submit to them like a slave.

Sex.
For most, it’s a natural expression of love, caring, or lust.
But there are those of us who can’t stop once we’ve had a taste.
Those of us who don’t want to.
And the shame of that never-ending cycle will eat us alive...

My name is Evan James, and I am a sex addict.

I'll admit I'm with the readers that didn't like Evan
AT ALL at the start of this book... but I think that's the whole point from these smart smut authors!

From the goodreads reviews it's rating in the high 3's today and in my honest opinion I think that's due
a lot to us finding Evan hard to love!
Talk about a bad boy anti-hero!!
He's a total user. You could freeze ice on his ass!
He didn't want a dirty fuck in a back alley; he wanted a high-class affair. Someone who would look good, smell good, and taste even better.
I fucking deserve it.

I mean we all know men like him exist, but do we want it rubbed in our faces in a book?!!

It wasn't looking good for him!

Having said all that, as the story went on
(and especially from the interview - that was a
really great, game changing scene for me!)
I could see a glimpse of Christian Grey!
Remember the CG POV we got of Anna's interview?
I could see the 'little boy lost' thing kicking in and a hint that there was hope - because Evan's funny
and was much more to him
than his first impression gave away.

There's a massive back story being hinted at and potential for brilliance as we get into book 2.
I REALLY hope so... I need this to be great!!
She took a step toward him, and Evan couldn't help but think she was either brave or incredibly foolish as she asked, “Now tell me what’s going on. Your bloodshot eyes aren’t fooling anyone. Did something happen?” He gripped the sides of the desk by his thighs and focused on her beautiful face before him, feeling his lip curl in a derisive smile.
 “You. You fucking happened.”

It's very well written and beautifully paced.
...And let's be fair, as I hated Blind Obsession with a passion, I'm 'desperate' to find an Ella Frank book that I love and right now she has me hooked!!

I'm looking forward to the next one!
