ARC REVIEW: You Don't Own Me ~ Georgia Le Carre

29226680

I still get a rush of excited anticipation
when Georgia Le Carre releases a new book!

I can absolutely guarantee that even if the story
isn't quite to my liking (just that once - ughh! lol!!!) her thought provoking writing, her intelligence, her compelling world view and her beautifully filthy mind will all shine through.

Her books are simply mind blowing; they're must reads every time for me. I'm always on the edge of my seat reading them and this one was no exception. I was totally awestruck by it.

Holy fuck! It's a beautifully crafted lust filled tale... Aleksandr Malenkov will go to any lengths to have the woman he loves
(and takes me to the edge doing it!!!)
and Dahlia Fury, the woman he's fallen for, who’s feisty enough to handle his sexy, dirty, dominant, yummy...
oh and tatted Russian Don ass!!
Dahlia's also down to earth and streetwise
enough to make this another brilliant
rich/poor GLC story...so happy!

Addictive, compulsive reading – I’ll be dropping everything to read the next in the series.
Aghh!! - I HAVE to know what happens next!!

PRIEST by Sierra Simone

A beautifully written, thought provoking book that
I'm going to lay it all out on the line for!

From the moment I read these words

~ choose love above all else ~

the book changed for me and I was gripped. It was quite profound, like a truth I'd always known but never said. I desperately wanted Tyler to do that. I knew that he loved Poppy, that they loved each other, but in my mind I pleaded from that moment on for him
to choose her, above all else, choose love

What if I could trade vengeance for love? That was what Christians were called to do, after all, choose love above all else.
Love.
The word was a bomb. An unexploded bomb living inside my chest.

I wasn't sure if he would or where the story would go but with tears in my eyes every bone in me kept thinking 'God he just MUST!!'
Almost with an angry caveat of
'I FUCKIN' DARE HIM NOT TO!!!'

“I could never hate you.”
“Really?
Even if I made you choose between me and your god?”

It's such an intense book that I knew
that I would have a seriously bad tantrum if he didn't.
With quotes like this:
“I want you so badly that I can taste blood when I think about it. But I won’t be the reason you lose your life”

Agghhhh!! My Kindle was in mortal danger!!!

I'm not religious, so for me it's incomprehensible that one could choose the love of any religion over the love of their person - their soul mate. Ughhh, it was intense!! So although this book ran from intensely dull (I'm sorry but that's how I felt about the very religious bits - I didn't get them, I completely respect that others do though - that ignorance is entirely on me) to intensely hot and also had parts that angered me, but I seriously want to FEEL what I read so
it was one heck of an experience.
I was overwhelmed by this story, I had to finish it compulsively because (for fuck sake!!!)
ABOVE ALL ELSE CHOOSE LOVE!!!

She wants a full life, I told God silently. She wanted a life with marriage and kids, a life where love could be just as present as work and family and friends, a life where she didn’t have to hide. And who could blame her? What am I supposed to do? God didn’t answer.

It definitely helped that the book is amazingly
written - I felt it HARD. The deliciously hot,
seriously dirty scenes between Poppy and Tyler
(with that forbidden taboo twist of him being a priest) left me breathless. His dirty mouth, his huge cock,
his powerful body and his need to be rough, hard, dominant and filthy to the core with her - matched only by her absolute need, want and desperation for all of the above left me in jaw dropping awe.
A superbly written, intense,
controversial but beautiful read.

ARC Review: Hypnotized by Georgia Le Carre

Poss 3.75 for me - see review!

Not much beats a Georgia Le Carre read!
She writes smart smut that I love to devour.

It's always so much more than a simple romance. For women that need a bit more to think about in their erotica than just the erotic bits, she's the perfect author! I spend a fair portion of each of her books googling the detail and content of them! I always learn something new and I love that.

Hypnotized is a standalone, darkly fascinating story set in London. It tells the tale of Lady Olivia Swanson who's lost her memory and Dr Marlow Kane the Neurologist turned Hypnotist that heals herThere is an abuse element in
the story told through Olivia's thoughts and Marlow's hypnosis of her, but none of it is crass or overwhelming. Georgia oozes class into her work so it's never going to be nasty.

And as always with a GLC when it gets hot...

...it gets
scorching!
Oh yes!!

I'm reviewing at a 3.75 to a 4 because it does have a melancholic feel (Particularly in the the first half) that I personally don't ever thrive on. I can appreciate a story with melancholy, but I never feel a connection with the characters of this kind of read (when there's gloom involved) even dark erotica isn't necessarily gloomy - for me, funny erotica will win out every time.

Cue my Blind Obsession by Elle Frank review/thoughts...

A brilliant author but Ughhh two years on and I'm still not over how depressing that book was for me!!

I found in this story that I was much more fascinated by Marlow's history than Olivia's. Not quite sure that that was the plan for this book but the letters from his wife were so bitter and shocking, so twisted that it felt like the ultimate revenge and I wanted to explore that more. You have to get all the way to the HEA ending to understand his history fully - making this a worthwhile read that I hope you'll give a chance to.

Loved the joke again Georgia! I've repeated it a dozen times to friends! LOL who knew bestiality could be so funny! ; )

ARC REVIEW: Vandal {Ashes & Embers #2} by Carian Cole

“Loving me will not be easy, loving me will be war. You will hold the gun and I will hand you the bullets. So breathe, and embrace the beauty of the massacre that lies ahead.”
 - R. M. Drake

~Perfection~
I love that quote so much

"Without you, I wouldn't want to live, Tabitha. That’s where I was when we met. I wanted to die, just like you did. I was slowly trying to kill myself. I was drinking all the time, and taking pills, cutting myself, torturing myself.I got kicked out of the band. My life was destroyed, and I didn't give a shit."

Wow! The quotes above pretty much tell you everything you need to know going into this one!
It also means that this isn't
the easiest book for me to review.
It's a darker read than Storm - it packed a lot in.
I'm pretty sure that had the story line been simpler and a bit more loving I could have hit a 4.5/5,
but it is what it is and it didn't really ignite me
the way that I hoped it would.

I think my biggest problem (and the dropped star) was that Vandal Valentine just wasn't my cup of tea. Between him being a millionaire, Dom wanting a 24/7 sub, (from a woman that he should have been much more honest and decent with)
a rock star, a tattoo artist,
self harming control freak with
a bad attitude toward his friends and family
(no wonder they didn't seem to be around much!) but above all a grieving father
- it was almost too much for me - like everything and the kitchen sink was thrown at it.
I think prefer the main character to be one or two
of the above and that the plot follow just one or two paths? I don't know? But all of that took a bit away from the story for me. I think if you love Vandal, you'll fall hard for him. Personally I preferred Storm.

I don't think there's a way to explain how I feel about the story line without major spoilers and going into how strange I found Tabi's behavior
(like not wanting to know Vandal's name/band etc
I don't know a single woman on the planet that wouldn't want to know those things)

Overall, I enjoy this authors way with words
she's a talented lady - I sincerely hope that this book does well and that 4 stars puts me in the minority. I wanted this to be a 5 star read so badly!

My Storm Review...

Quick mention for Sterling the blind cat
(and star of the book!)
I really, REALLY loved his inclusion, his story
and that the real life Sterling is being looked after.
He's definitely a 10!!
Well done Carian for helping him
with a portion of sales from the book.

ARC Review: EDEN ~ Georgia Le Carre

Another fantastic story set in the UK
by an author that has never let me down.

Packed with detail, an intriguing, sexy plot
and characters that I want more of.

I had no hope of escape until this book was read!!
Trust me, once you're immersed into a GLC read,
nothing else matters, I was a goner!

I'll be honest... there was a REALLY scary

'where the fuck are you going with this Georgia!!!...'

moment when both brothers took a fancy to Lily...

(God knows I don't do triangles!)

But I held my breath...

and kept going... then, what a relief

when I wasn't let down!! PHEW!!

Don't get me wrong,

I'm not happy with what they did to Jake's brother,

but it wasn't quite a smashed

kindle moment - so we're good!

All in all we're set for another fantastic hot series.

Georgia is so on the ball when it comes to

the way that life REALLY is for those of us

that don't have a billion in the bank!

She's one super smart writer...

This is beautifully written, complex and deep
(without being up its own arse)
and with a shit load of social commentary
that always makes me smile!
I'm really fucking happy to have
the rest of this series to look forward to.

Cheers Georgia : ) Loving your work!!
